The main work of the Charity takes the form of organising residential weekends at a number of venues. The function of these is to provide a safe environment where participants may share information relating to their physical or mental health with a view to promoting positive attitudes to living with HIV infection. The Charity will not tolerate infringements of its Equal Opportunities Policy at the weekend events. Copies of the Equal Opportunities Policy are available on request. Participants are requested to respect both the venue of the weekend and the people who attend them. Anyone who infringes the Equal Opportunities Policy will be asked to leave for the safety of the other participants. Threatening behaviour, physical violence, verbal violence or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. Anyone who infringes these rules and thereby places the future of participants or the Charity at risk will be asked to leave at the earliest possible opportunity and moneys paid for attending will not be refunded. Anyone who causes disruption or behaves in a disruptive manner may be refused places at future events. Participants are asked to respect the confidentiality of other participants both during and after the weekends and not to disclose any information given. Any statements made in any group should be regarded as confidential. Any information held by the Charity itself is held in strict confidence and will not be made available to any other individual or organisation. Any information given in seeking funding for the weekends will relate to region of residence and will not contain any information which will enable participants to be identified. A copy of the Confidentiality Policy is available on request. Participants are requested to respect the rules and the properties of the venues used. Anyone found causing damage to or removing properties which are not theirs from the venue will not be permitted to attend future events and may face criminal prosecution by the owners of said venue. Members are asked not to be found in possession of or to use illegal drugs on the premises at any of the venues for the weekends as this could pose a legal threat to a) the venue itself by rendering the owners liable to prosecution and b) the future of the Charity by placing the Charity in jeopardy of prosecution. Anyone who feels that they have been the object, or recipient, of any form of abuse has the right to use the Complaints procedure to make known their concerns about other participants, employees both of the host venue or the Charity, volunteers, or members of the management committee. A copy of the Complaints Policy is available on request. Anyone who feels that they have been treated unfairly in being asked to leave the weekends will also have recourse to the Complaints procedure and has right of appeal against any decisions made. All policies apply equally to participants, volunteers, trustees and people employed by the Charity to further its aims and objectives. |
