At the end of each weekend we ask all who have attended to complete an evaluation form. This allows us to assess what we are doing well, and what we could be better. One of the questions asks people what the best part of the weekend was. Here are some of the comments:
Meeting others, counselling session, facial, country air, food
Meeting new people and sharing experiences
Being involved with Emma…she is a great lady, very knowledgeable and caring
Meeting new people, and old people. Massage
Good food and company. I also look forward to having complementary therapies
Meeting new people, resting, fun, discussions and therapies
Learning that HIV is just like any other disease. I don’t need it to control me but I can control it especially with my will power, having a good support network around me & mind. It can’t stop me from achieving everything I’ve ever wanted to do/be
Learning new things which will help with future direction in life. Bonding & safe haven.
I enjoyed it fully and particularly the flexibility to participate or not, relaxed & no pressure although with structure too. Great weekend and looking forward to my second one for me – Thank!
Just to relax for once
Meeting supportive people who can relate to how I feel
Relaxed conversation with the ‘givers’ & talk with other positive HIV
The whole experience for me was very good. I loved the therapy session I had, the closed group I attended and the food was wonderful. When I came was feeling so down because of family issues that been going on in my life. I left like my life had no direction but now I feel I can do anything I put my heart to. Just by talking to others a whole load has been lifted and just being around people who are like me has had a great impact.
Meeting some special people & having some of my unconscious preconceptions of non-gay men.
Brilliant life enhancing!
Have the opportunity to share time and experiences with other people living with HIV.
Meeting new people, feeling less isolated, improved my peer support
